In this chapter, we find out more about Gatsby's true personality through his meeting with the love of his life. At the start of the chapter, Gatsby is filled with anxiety. He does everything he can to appeal to Nick, because he believes that he is doing him a huge favor. When he is waiting for Daisy to show up at Nick's house, he is extremely nervous and at one point believes that she won't even show up. Then, when Daisy does arrive, the meeting is very awkward. However as the chapter goes on, Daisy and Gatsby become more comfortable with each other, and soon it seems like they are back to being their normal selves.
In all the previous chapters, Nick has put Gatsby on a high pedestal and admired him very much. But in this chapter, we see Gatsby become even more of a real person. While Nick probably does still admire him, in this chapter he seems to have a different attitude towards him. At one point, while he is having a conversation with Gatsby in the kitchen, he almost gets frustrated with him. Gatsby was having trouble talking to Daisy, and he wasn't as put together as he usually is. "'You're acting like a little boy,' I broke out impatiently. 'Not only that, but you're rude. Daisy's sitting in there all alone.'"(88), Nick says to Gatsby. I think that Nick might have been frustrated at Gatsby a little because of how he was treating Daisy, but more because he wasn't being the person that Nick had created him to be in his mind.
