Chapter three is all about an extravagant party at Gatsby's house. Nick mentions multiple times that he was one of the few people invited, and that most of the attendees just showed up. Nick seems very proud of himself because of this, and it seems that though he claims to be levelheaded and non-judgmental, he enjoys being a little above people. The strangest thing that I found in chapter three, was that when Nick started speaking to the stranger at the party, he didn't even realize that it was Gatsby. I thought that since he spent so much time observing him, he would recognize him. Another concern I had, was what happened when Jordan and Gatsby went into the room together. I want to assume that it was something sexual.
People at the party are very suspicious of who Gatsby is. He says that he is Oxford man, but no one seems to believe him. Many people actually believe that he killed a man. Despite this, everyone still enjoys the party, which can show the carelessness of the people of the twenties. I am also very confused about who the man in the car accident was. He might have been drunk, but it seemed that he was actually crazy. I also have questions about what the point of the car accident was.
